There are many different types of cargo in TextSpaced all of which can be traded, stored and many of which can be fabricated or crafted. Within the cargo window you will find sections for the cargo you are carrying in your hold, cargo that is adrift at your current position as well as sections helping you to locate cargo. All cargo has a type which are detailed later in this article.
The nearby commodities section allows you to see all commodities in the system across all bodies, and mine them if you choose. The region commodity prices section allows you to select a commodity from the list and see the price a region is buying and selling a commodity at (a region is a span of 50 light years).
In this search section of the cargo window you can search for commodities to buy, commodities to mine (will only list systems where mining is permitted and no planetary shields are in place) as well as search for other cargo. To search for cargo, choose a cargo group to search for and then type part of the name in the search box.
Perhaps the most familiar cargo type, commodities are chemical elements, non-chemical elements and general building materials. All commodities from the periodic table can be found with a few additions and exotic types. Commodities can be mined from bodies you find such as planets or asteroid fields and either sold or refined. Any system that provides the trading commodities service will buy commodities from you, such structures that have this service are the Merchant Station or Black Market (for illegal commodities).
Consumables is a very broad cargo type that covers items that can be used or singular items that are for trade. These vary from botanics and software to fuel cells and spare clone organs and in total there are dozens of different consumable categories. Consumables can be sold and purchased in any system that has the trading consumable service, a structure with this service is the Bazaar.
The equipment cargo category is physically working equipment ports that could be fitted to your ship to use (such as a cloaking module) or sold. Any system with the trading ports service you can buy and sell equipment at, structures with this service including the Merchant Station and Asteroid Bar.
Equipment parts are the parts used to make equipment parts during crafting and can often be quite valuable. Any system with the trading parts service you can buy and sell equipment parts at, a structure with this service is the Junk Yard.
Just like equipment parts, ship parts are used in the crafting of ships and are often very valuable. Just like with all parts, ship parts can be traded in a system with the trading parts service, a structure with this service is the Junk Yard.
Lastly with the crafting parts, structure components are parts used to build structures. This parts are often fabricated and can be very valuable or vital for faction expansion. Just like with other parts, any system with the trading parts service will trade structure components with you, the Junk Yard providing this service.
Weapons are physically working weapon ports that could be fitted to your ship and any system with the trading ports service you can buy and sell weapons at, structures with this service including the Merchant Station.
Just as with equipment parts, weapon parts are used in the crafting process to create weapons. Any system with the trading parts service will trade weapon parts with you and such as structure that provides the service is the Junk Yard.
