TextSpaced is regularly updated and the best place to keep track of changes and hear the latest news is in our official Discord server.

We operate a thematic release procedure where a new release will be centred around a specific theme, new features and mechanics will be added around this theme and all existing mechanics, features, items in game and balances will be changed along this general theme.

Version 1.3: Communication

Version 1.3 has a strong focus on characters you could chat to using dialog paths as well as direct messaging other players. This version also included dozens of feature requests from players as well as quality of life improvements.

  • Bug: A new Product Recall mission has been added to the reasoning factor. Completing this mission will raise your Mechanical Fleet buy limit.
  • Bug: A new Radiogenic Collector structure is now available to build.
  • Bug: Fixed an issue where using the engage option for a squad member that wasn't in a system, would cause an error.
  • Bug: Fixed an issue with paging of weapons that resulted in not all weapons being shown.
  • Bug: For war declarations, the time since the war started was showing as a negative number.
  • Bug: If an error occurs with disabling or enabling a structure, the error is now shown.
  • Bug: If your sublight speed was calculated as less than 0.01, it would cause estimates to state infinity as your travel time.
  • Bug: It was possible on occasion to salvage the same wreck multiple times.
  • Bug: It was possible to hit the spin button on slots while they were already spinning.
  • Bug: Karma for completing missions was not being logged.
  • Bug: Outposts with no power were still issuing missions.
  • Bug: Renaming a system was not refreshing the command window.
  • Bug: Sometimes the primary navigation would stay highlighted on the last window you used when engaging FTL.
  • Bug: The category name of cards in the tactical window were not capitalised.
  • Bug: The commodities to refine when viewing a factory were not paging correctly.
  • Bug: The prices shown at the Mechanical Fleet were not reflecting an active Memory Error boost.
  • Bug: The weapons parts section of a structure hold did not have pagination.
  • Bug: Toll Gates were always being used even for wormholes in a system where a gate was present.
  • Bug: Wormhole tolls will now be taken from user credits if the faction does not have enough credits in the treasury.
  • Feature: A new Cogs of War season has now been added to the rotation.
  • Feature: A new Energy Syphon power structure is now available to build.
  • Feature: A new Exotic Crafter skill is now available to realise in the perfectionism factor.
  • Feature: A new filter now allows searching for a mission by issuing faction.
  • Feature: A new House Trained mission has been added for the obedience factor.
  • Feature: A new Interior Designer skill has been added to the reasoning factor.
  • Feature: A new log download for patrons allows an inventory of all structure holds to be downloaded.

  • Feature: Allies will no longer accumulate negative karma from broken rules or any other means with the exception of hostility.
  • Feature: An active speed boost will now increase the sublight modifier in the metrics window, if you are not taking in the new player period.
  • Feature: As well as the current boost, upcoming boosts are now listed in the boosts section of the computer window.
  • Feature: Cluster Mines are now available as new consumables to use in combat.
  • Feature: Commodity synthesis will now restart automatically once finished, if there are enough of the same commodity.
  • Feature: Crew may now train in rooms in structures you are currently training in.
  • Feature: Drinking alcoholic drinks will now increase your intoxication. When intoxicated the game interface will blur periodically, but your vitals will increase for hunting as well as your aggression and offence.
  • Feature: Drinking focusing drinks such as coffee will now increase focus making you "wired". While wired, crafting success is higher as well as critical finds during mining. The game interface will also turn to grayscale with the exception of buttons and inputs.
  • Feature: Faction founders can now clear all rules for every owned system using a new interface, in the karma section of the command window.
  • Feature: Faction founders can now release treasury dividends to all faction members adding credit to their accounts, from the services window.
  • Feature: Faction founders can now set bulk rules from the karma section of the command window. This will apply a specific rule to every currently owned system.
  • Feature: Factories in the crafting window are now ordered by distance closest first by default.
  • Feature: Food and drink purchased at the Mechanical Fleet now costs Pure Gold.
  • Feature: From the search in the cargo window, you can now search for equipment and weapons on sale by structures with the trading ports service.
  • Feature: If you have no hold space while completing a mission, the rewards are instead placed as adrift.

  • Feature: The search filter for consumables in your hold will now also search category and sub category names.

  • Feature: The Ship Refining skill is now available to realise in the Tension factor.
  • Feature: The Solar Cruiser class of ship is now available to purchase from the Civilian Guild and all factions that invested in its production.

  • Feature: You can now deconstruct multiple levels of a structure at once using a slider.
  • Feature: You can now fit and remove rooms to structures and use these to train. Rooms can be accessed by clicking into an owned structure that has customisable room space.

  • Balance: Karma neutralisation was too aggressive and has been decreased in frequency.
  • Balance: Medical services are no longer provided by the Mechanical Fleet.
  • Balance: Offering a relic to faction now grants a skill point in a random factor instead of just warmth.
  • Balance: Some rooms now require a specific Interior Designer skill level to be able to view and fit.
  • Balance: Stun effects in personal combat now stack.
  • Balance: The Mechanical Fleet multiplier has been changed to a buy limit. By default, every player starts with a buy limit of 2. Each time the fleet leaves all limits are set back to 2 if they are below this value.
  • Balance: The wildlife parts search in the cargo window now excludes planets with shields.

Version 1.2: Traits

Version 1.2 was centered around traits, personalisation, person to person trade and general character development. The highlight features being the ability to create person to person trade requests, to be able to join guilds to elevate your play style and understand your character with richer information about their traits, personality, morale as well as more character driven conversation. The full list of items in the release are below.

  • Bug: Being in a construction role ship was not passively supporting other faction structures and ships repairing at the same position.
  • Bug: Corrected an issue where structure images were not always showing when reviewing a blueprint.
  • Bug: The overall level when viewing the me window was not being rounded.
  • Feature: A new ammo consumable category has been added for the Warmongers guild.
  • Feature: A new behemoth size of wildlife can now be encountered.
  • Feature: A new Civilian Star Chart Intel contract has been added to contracts in the mission window, which will enter into the faction log the closest unclaimed system to your current position.
  • Feature: A new intel consumable category has been added for intel consumables as used by The Intelligence Order.
  • Feature: A new intel section is now available in the logs section of computer for members of the Intelligence Order.
  • Feature: A new no skill filter has been added when browsing available missions.
  • Feature: A new prefabs consumable category has been added containing firstly drones for the Starfarers guild to use.
  • Feature: A new psyche section has been added to the me window under statistics that shows morale and equanimity.
  • Feature: A new random player combat scenario has been added, which will create a simulated combat session against another random player.
  • Feature: A new ship trading advanced service has been added to helm search, which will show locations of Shipyards. These structures sell next-generation ships.
  • Feature: A new unclaimed section has been added to the search section of helm, which shows any unclaimed systems you faction has discovered within 1,000 LYs.
  • Feature: A new viruses consumable category has been added for computer virus consumables as used by The Intelligence Order.
  • Feature: A total of 100 new points have been added that affect factors.

  • Feature: Level 100 fortresses will now automatically upgrade to Strongholds which provide precise training services. Precise training costs 1 B-Chip but has zero chance of failure.
  • Feature: Medicine is now more effective for those in the Evax Company.
  • Feature: Members of the Evax Company will now always have a retreat card at turn zero.
  • Feature: Members of the Evax guild can now use replication bay technology by using the replication ship card in combat.
  • Feature: Members of the Merchant Guild can now use a higher RRP difference when creating trade requests.
  • Feature: Members of the Merchant Guild now have improved trade modifiers.
  • Feature: Members of the Merchant Guild will now be informed by their character of exotic items for sale nearby.
  • Feature: Members of the Miners Guild can now use advanced mining beams.
  • Feature: Members of the mining guild can now refine commodities onboard their ships, by using the contextual option when interacting with commodities in their hold.
  • Feature: Members of the Mining Guild can now see and mine Dark Matter from Blackholes, Flux Matter from Whiteholes and Quantum Matter from Spatial Filaments.
  • Feature: Members of the Mining Guild will now regally generate man-made commodities when idle.
  • Feature: Members of the Movers guild are no longer affected by negative region effects.
  • Feature: Members of the Movers guild now have access to advanced Hold Extenders.
  • Feature: Members of the Movers guild will now automatically have their ports unfitted and stored before being destroyed from fatigue.
  • Feature: Members of the Pioneers faction will now chart planets faster.
  • Feature: Members of the Pioneers guild can now access eight different mechs for use in combat, charting and gathering.
  • Feature: Members of the Pioneers guild now have access to advanced Afterburners.
  • Feature: Members of the Pioneers guild will now no longer miss discovering systems due to speed.
  • Feature: Members of the Research Federation guild will now passively generate research points for their faction.
  • Feature: Members of the Research Federation will now see fabrication crew generate higher level parts.
  • Feature: Members of the Starfarers guild can now use generational ships to collect and settle colonists.
  • Feature: Members of the Starfarers guild will now repair ports as soon as they are newly added to their hold.

  • Feature: Signets members can now give direct orders to enlisted ships to instantly eject cargo, report on their surroundings, retreat from any active combat as well as start combat.

Version 1.1: Companions

Version 1.1 was centred around capturing and training wildlife to become companions, allowing crew to be disembarked at faction Reserves, away missions for crew and elite crew contracts. It also increased complementary items such as hunting consumables, personal weapons, gear as well as new missions, idle activities, a new "Ark" ship and new artwork.

The full list of all the changes in v1.1 are listed below.

  • Feature: A "Seasoned" title is now granted if you unlocked the level 100 reward in any season.

  • Feature: The karma log will now still show entries from players that have deleted their accounts.
  • Feature: The log comms channel has been added back to the comms menu.
  • Feature: The mission section is now separated by personal, crew and faction missions.
  • Feature: The missions board now only shows five missions at a time but includes filters to find exactly what you are looking forward and all the information to be able to accept the mission from the same page.
  • Feature: The Quantum Recall skill is now available to realise in the perfectionism factor.
  • Feature: The search for rooms when wanting to fit a room, will now also search associated names of skills the room supports training for.
  • Feature: Wildlife will now support you in charting if they have that capability based on their level and speed.

  • Feature: With the Hunter skill you can now use the X-Net consumable while hunting in an attempt to capture wildlife.
  • Feature: You can now view the details of a companion from the crew and companion section in command. The window includes the attacks the wildlife has learnt, its statistics and capabilities as well as an image where applicable.
  • Feature: You can now view the status of pens onboard a ship with the Wildlife Pens perk.
  • Balance: Missions are now skill gated and will only show if you have the skill at the mission level or higher.
  • Balance: Missions no longer have reward modifiers, so the rewards listed are what you will get.
  • Balance: Wildlife have a chance of dying the longer they are kept onboard a ship in a pen.
