How do I start a combat simulation against a ship?

To simulate an attack against a ship at the same location as yourself, first find the ship in the window in the system section. For each ship there will be a contextual menu, clicking this will present various options with one being "simulate combat".

A confirmation will present, confirming you wish to simulate an attack which will start the combat simulation.

At any point during a combat simulation, you can press the end simulation button to end it.
