How do I level my skill?

All skills can be individually levelled to a maximum level of 100, meaning the skill is 100% effective. The skill description will detail how the skill can be levelled, you can see this description by clicking the skill name in the me window (the window with your portrait). If no way to level the skill is detailed, the skill can only be levelled by room usage or skill training.

You can level skills by using rooms. Rooms will detail which skills can be trained with them and fitting the room provides this facility. To train in a room fitted to your ship, open the tactical window (the section with the ship name) and use the contextual option for the room to train the skill. Training in a room takes a long time and is an idle activity.

Lastly you can train skills by purchasing skill training known as SR Training at a faction system with a fortress. The cost of training increases proportional to the skill level. Training this way also has a small chance of failure resulting in skill loss.
