How does researching equipment lines work?

Once you unlock a line you can begin trying to find recipes in that line with crafting. Equipment lines have 10 different versions and weapons 40.

A faction founder can use the command window to unlock new lines. Any player thereafter can use the crafting window to attempt to find equipment recipes for the unlocked lines.
